New Zealanders, Deon & Liz, have visited us twice this year at Dental Care Croatia; organising clinic visits into two chunks, some in Summer and some again now, as the leaves are starting to fall from the trees.
The two kiwis are an adventurous couple. They have been travelling all around the world for around four years; with periodic trips back down to the lush, green motherland sprinkled in, for good measure. Deon and Liz’s escapades have seen them working as crew on super yachts and volunteering in various stunning spots around Europe.
Deon decided to get a bit of dental work done during his travels; some fillings, crowns and his teeth whitened. He said, “People from New Zealand normally go to Thailand, but since I was up here I decided to look for somewhere in Europe. Some friends on the yachts had told me that Croatian dentistry is pretty cheap, around the same price as in Thailand, but really good as well”.
In between dental appointments, Deon and his partner made it to island Vis, a beautiful island just in front of Split. They headed to Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) beach to give windsurfing a go. The spot is well known as a top windsurfing spot; the skill level here is top and the wind can be tremendous. They had a few lessons, but as the wind got stronger, their instructor switched them to SUPs (stand up paddle-boards) instead. Deon laughed as he told us that he was forced to stop concentrating on how he was performing, to go save his lovely Liz… who was drifting away into the ocean, a speck on the horizon.
The two are heading off to the UK for a while, before going back to New Zealand, to live in their home together; Deon, with a shiny, new smile from Split. However, we doubt the urge to fly will stay away for long with these two, kiwi love-birds.
